Social preparedness and mobilization is give much importance before livestock programme intervention. Four districts (Lamjung, Tanahun, Palpa and Nawalparasi) that had performed well under the third livestock Development Project will act as “Lead Districts”, the successful activities of which can serve as models to strive to. The livestock pockets will be area based rather than commodity based and therefore the poorer section of the society will be selected for growth of livestock pockets. The livestock development programme will not run in isolation and hence linkages with other development line agencies will be established as and when required.
