1. Community Development and Capacity Building

Identification of livestock pockets for programme implementation in partnership with local NGOs/CBOs: partnership of women increased to a minimum level of 35 percent in all project activities : Development and mobilization of Community Livestock Assistants : Capacity enhancement of DLS staff/ farmer groups/ partner NGOs, CBOs/ private livestock-based entrepreneurs.

2. Livestock Productivity Improvement

Increase in the supply of forages: Identification and mobilization of contract Seed Growers: Flow of microfinance to farmers through microfinance wholesalers and microfinance intermediaries.

Expansion of livestock services and strengthening of private practice management for efficient animal health services.

3. Livestock Processing and Marketing

Improvement and / or establishment of retail milk centers/ chilling centers/ slaughter houses, slabs/ meat shops/ live animal markets commercial livestock centers.

4. High Altitude Pilot Programme

Development and implementation of a multi-sectoral pilot program in the five high hill districts of mild western and far western development region.

5. Project Management Services

Establishment of a central office lead by a project Manager and comprising HGM/N staff and hired consultants capable of running the project activities and competent of livestock sector policy analysis.
